TAKING STOCK: FEBRUARY 2016

Taking Stock February - Midgins' Blog

Admired: So many talented makers that I’ve come across on Instagram. I’ve especially been drawn to woven wall hangings lately, such as the beauties from A Woven Tale and Jeannie Makes. I’m desperate to get myself a loom and try weaving myself!

Ate: Far too many carbs, probably. George also cooked up a tonne of chilli which we just ate for dinner 3 days in a row. It was awesome.

Blogged: Silver Grey Fox CushionFriday Favourites #3, Honeymoon Diaries: Mammoth Lakes, Friday Favourites #4, Ukulele Cushions Collection, Friday Favourites #5 – Mother’s Day Gift Ideas and Honeymoon Diaries: Yosemite National Park. I’ve actually managed to stick to a fairly regular schedule which I’m super happy about.

Created: Some new products for Etsy (mostly more colour options for existing items but there are new designs on the way too!) and lots of blog content.

Designed: Isn’t really the correct term. I basically have a list of ideas scribbled down in a notebook that I’m slowly working through. I need to find the time to actually start sketching again.

Discovered: Foals. Not exactly a discovery as such, but I hadn’t really paid much attention to their music before I saw them perform live a few weeks ago. Now I’m kind of hooked.

Enjoyed: A weekend spent catching up with friends who came to stay and hang out at the BBC 6 Music Festival.

Felt: Super productive, happy, content and inspired!

Listened: To Jeremy Loops and Frank Turner pretty much on repeat. No change there..

Loved: Having a week off from my day job and spending the entire time working from home on Midgins’. I loved every second and felt so fulfilled. It has certainly given me the motivation to work as hard I can for my dreams. “Good things come to those who hustle.” – @creatorslane

Noticed: Just how much I can get done in a day if I put my mind to it. I was getting so stressed about how few hours I had left on the days that I go to work but I’m slowly learning how to use the time I do have to my full advantage.

Organised: My entire sewing space and it felt so damn good. It’s so much easier to work when everything is tidy and in it’s place.

Pinned: A lot of interior inspiration, short hairstyles, pretty clothing and floral tattoos.

Read: Loads of great blog posts this month such as How to Find Your Creative Zone and When Did You Know You Wanted Children?

Tried: This whole ‘getting up early and going to bed at a reasonable hour’ thing during my week off and it actually wasn’t so bad. I’ve concluded that I sew a lot faster in the mornings and can get much more done before lunchtime than I thought I could. Yippee!

Visited: Nowhere new this month but I did pay a visit to my brother’s house to catch up with him the cats..

Watched: Fullmetal Alchemist. We’re not finished yet but it’s pretty great so far. I haven’t watched much anime before but I think I’m finally getting into it.

How was February for you?
