Hello! It’s me. I’m still here. How are you all? I wanted to post some sort of update today to show you what I’ve been up to lately. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve done an ‘according to instagram’ post and it seemed like a fitting way to pop by and share a few photos and thoughts with you.
I’ve been feeling a little lost when it comes to blogging recently. You’ve probably noticed a lack of posts in the past few months and I have no real explanation for that, other than I’ve had no motivation whatsoever. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, I just feel like I have very little to share. I love putting together my Friday favourites but it feels like that’s all I ever post. I read blogs every single day but still can’t figure out which direction to take mine in. So I’d love for you to let me know, if you’re still here, what it is you would like to see from me. Do you enjoy seeing the things I make? Would you like DIY posts or sewing tutorials? Do you prefer more lifestyle or outfit posts? Obviously I write this blog alongside running my Etsy shop so I still want to focus on that, but I enjoy having a space where I can share more personal things and can pretty much write about anything I want. Let me know what you think. I’d really love to know!
. Back at the end of September, George and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary in Amsterdam. We fell in love with that beautiful city. In case you missed it, there are loads more photos right here. I can’t wait to see where we travel to next year!
. October was crazy busy and turned out to be our most successful month ever on Etsy! Christmas is coming and I’m super grateful to all the wonderful people who choose to shop with small businesses.
. Between orders I managed to squeeze in some weaving time and finally finished this beauty. I’m calling her ‘Mint Choc Chip’ and will be listing for sale as soon as I find the perfect piece of wood to hang her on.
. During our best month ever we also reached 100 sales on Etsy! YAY! It may not sound like much to some, but when you’ve poured all your time and effort (and money) into something, it’s the milestones like this that make it all worthwhile. Slowly but surely we are making progress with Etsy and it’s an exciting feeling!
. I love when customers pick colour combinations that I haven’t made yet and both of these owls were newbies. Aren’t they beautiful?! The mustard on berry is so autumnal and delicious.
. My most recent Friday Favourites was full of wonderful and creative pieces. While it’s fun to search for things that I personally love, it’s even more enjoyable to browse Etsy now that I’m looking for Christmas gifts that other people will appreciate too.
. I sold my first weaving! This wall hanging was my absolute favourite and now she’s gone forever.. While I was sad to see it go, I’m also happy that it will actually be hanging in someone else’s home. I’m planning on weaving a little collection of these woodland inspired pieces.
. It was time to order some new business cards so George and I came up with a brand new design. Our old cards were too busy so we kept these much more simple and chose a selection of our favourite new photos for the backs. I love how they turned out.
. We’re taking part in Etsy Made Local this year! In case you didn’t know, these Christmas markets are happening all over the UK on the 2nd – 4th of December, to celebrate makers, collectors and artisans. We’ll be in Bristol on Sunday the 4th, so come along if you’re in the area. We’ve not had the best experience with craft fairs in the past so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this one will be worth it.
. Other than preparing for the market, the last and most significant life update is that I’ve got myself a new job. You may know that I’ve been working part time in retail since I graduated, and while it paid the bills and gave me enough time to start a business, it wasn’t at all where I wanted to be spending my days. Well now I’m a sewing machinist for a small company in Bristol and couldn’t be happier about it!
This post got quite long and rambly but I felt it was necessary. I’m going to continue working on my growing pile of owls and foxes while I try to think of some interesting blog posts. Leave a nice comment if you will, because that would be lovely.
