I’ve been on a bit of an embroidery kick lately and have added a few new pieces to the shop. I’m a little behind on sharing Etsy updates as they happen so I’ll start with this maine coon design and will share some more hoops with you later in the week.
The maine coon was originally a sketch that George came up with and we decided to adapt into an embroidery hoop. I continued with the minimalist style that I used for this bunny hoop with partial outlines and key features, rather than lots of detail, for a more contemporary take on embroidery.
For the second hoop we experimented with adding subtle watercolour shading on linen fabric and tried staining the hoop for a more rustic appearance. I really love how this one turned out and it’s definitely my favourite of the two. I think I’ll be using these techniques a lot more from now on!
I would love to expand my collection of embroidery hoop art in this minimalist style. What other animals would you like to see? Do you prefer more traditional embroidery techniques or do you like this contemporary look?
Also if you head on over to my Etsy shop you’ll see that our Black Friday offer has already begun with everything marked down by 10%. Happy Christmas shopping!
