For the next chapter of our honeymoon we stayed at the Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn in Oakhurst, which was probably our favourite hotel of the whole trip. We had a huge room with gorgeous California inspired decor and a balcony overlooking peaceful woodlands. The town of Oakhurst was very pleasant and full of little shops and restaurants. We had dinner at Dicicco’s Italian Restaurant on both nights that we stayed there because the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly. I would definitely recommend eating here if you’re ever staying in the area and would like to enjoy some exceptionally tasty Italian food!

Due to the extra long drive from Mammoth Lakes to Yosemite, we had just one full day to explore the park and it was completely mind-blowing.

These views from Glacier Point were unlike anything I have ever seen. It felt like a dream or as if we were on another planet. There were mountains upon mountains as far as the eye could see. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a place so surreal and beautiful. It’s impossible to capture the sheer scale of it all on camera but I will certainly never forget the incredible sights and feelings I had from atop those extraordinary mountains.

Tunnel View was another completely overwhelming experience. Driving through the dark until we reached the end was like unveiling a whole new world. The view of Yosemite Valley was breathtaking.

After the most beautiful drive around Yosemite, we parked up for a wander around the village. We were in awe of the picturesque cabin homes scattered through the woodlands and lost count of the amount of deer we spotted roaming the grounds. We walked along the trail towards where we should have seen Yosemite Falls, the highest waterfall in Yosemite, but it had all dried up due to the massive drought in California.

I didn’t feel like filling this post with much writing as I’m pretty sure the images are all that’s needed. It’s quite challenging to put into words how spectacular Yosemite really was. It’s most definitely a place you need to experience for yourself. The photographs honestly don’t do it justice but I’m glad we managed to capture those stunning views and memories so we always have something to look back on. Until next time, Yosemite.
